Investing in Our Most Important Assets

At Start Smart Learning Center, we believe that strong programs begin with strong people. Our focus right now is centered on one core goal: helping our staff become the best possible versions of themselves—personally and professionally.

We are intentionally investing in our team’s future by creating opportunities that support growth, stability, and confidence. This includes seeking ways to help staff feel more comfortable financially, supported in their roles, and empowered to plan for their futures. When educators feel secure and valued, they are better able to show up fully for the children and families they serve.

Equally important is the environment we cultivate every day. We are committed to building a workplace rooted in respect, collaboration, and open communication. Our goal is for every team member to feel heard, appreciated, and supported—not just as an employee, but as a whole person. We encourage teamwork, shared problem-solving, and a culture where helping one another is the norm.

Expanding Our Volunteer Program

Looking ahead, we are excited about the expansion of our volunteer program. By welcoming additional helping hands into our center, we hope to provide more day-to-day support for our staff—assisting with tasks such as feeding babies, cleaning and sanitizing, organizing classrooms, and other supportive duties. This extra assistance allows our educators to focus more time and energy on teaching, nurturing, and connecting with the children in their care.

Call to Action: Become a Start Smart Volunteer

We are actively seeking community members, family members, students, and retirees who are interested in supporting early childhood education through volunteering.

To volunteer in a licensed childcare center in Pennsylvania, individuals must be able to obtain the following clearances:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check

(Required for volunteers who will have direct contact with children)

  • National Sex Offender Registry Clearance

Additional requirements include:

We guide volunteers through every step of the process and are happy to help answer questions or assist with paperwork.
